Prescriptions (Rx)
PD stands for Pupillary Distance. It is the distance from the mid of the pupil of one eye to the mid of pupil of another eye. It is measured in (millimeters). You can get it done from your available resources or from the Doctor when you get a prescription of eyes. You can also measure it yourself. Watch this to know how you can measure PD yourself.
You can fill the prism correction with the guide ( A guide button) or can send a snap of your prescription.
To order non-prescription glasses go to the side menu first and then go to categories. Select your category out of Men’s, Women’s, and Kids' glasses. After selecting the category, you’ll see filters through which you can choose the color, shape, material, size, and features for your glasses. Then choose the product that you want and click on the button ORDER YOUR GLASS. Then select the Non-prescription from the Prescription type option and click on Add to Cart. To complete the process click on the PROCESS TO CHECKOUT and fill out the forms by providing all your information and at last click on Proceed.
The standard practice is to check your eyes yearly, so you know whether you need a new prescription and either it has expired or not. You can order the new pair of glasses if you have got your eyes checked 6 months before. But if you are a Diabetic patient then you must get your eyes checked before getting new glasses. A diabetic patient may face difficulty to change his eye prescription within 24 hours due to an unusual change in sugar level. So first maintain your sugar level and then get your new eye prescription.
By looking on your prescription, you will see the numbers that are listed under the headings of OD and OS. These are Latin abbreviations. OD (oculus dextrus) means the right eye and OS (osculus sinister) means that left eye. You will also see an abbreviation OU that means something involved in both eyes. In simple, the further your prescription number is away from zero, the worse your eyesight is and the more correction of vision you will be needed. A glass prescription normally becomes expire within 1 or two years, on the state in which you have received your eye test.

If you have a glass prescription with NV-ADD, then you should order Prescription Reading Glass. However, if you don't have a glass prescription and usually buy reading glasses from the store, then you may consider over the counter Reading Glasses.
Prescription Reading Glasses:
It is very simple to configure an Rx with an NV-ADD.
You just have to take the NV-ADD number on your Rx, and then add it to your Sphere numbers for each eye. Now, if its the single PD, then lower your PD distance by 3 millimeters, however for dual PD, lower your PD distance by 1.5 millimeters. This will give you an Rx for single-vision reading glasses.
Over the Counter Reading Glasses
If you prefer to use reading glasses over the counter glasses from the store, you can easily buy them from The Ocular Store.
If you don't know how to order, start by selecting your favorite frame. Once you come to know what is your recommended reading power, select vision as the Prescription Type, and then enter the same prescription power in the SPH category. Don't enter a value n the Axis, CYL or Prism boxes.

Lenses
The lens number usually indicates the intensity of refraction. The greater number corresponds to higher refraction through the lens. The number could be either positive (+) or negative (-). There are three types of numbers. a) Spherical is indicated by SPH. b) Cylindrical is indicated by (CYL) c) Prism in the right eye is base down (BD) and in the left eye, it is base up (BU). Prism is described in Prism diopters along the base of the lens with its direction. The unit of refraction is Diopters. Spherical Numbers refract in 360 meridians. Whereas Cylindrical lenses refract in two meridians along with its axis in degrees.
The lens that you selected during the ordering process is the best option for your prescription. If you have a stronger prescription, then a higher number of an index is required to give thinner lenses.

Photochromic lenses are those lenses that darken when exposed to sunlight, commonly due to the presence of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The lenses automatically return to their clear state at indoor or out of Natural light.
These are Sunglass lenses that block the glare of light. Glare is an abnormal form of light which is the result of reflection from the water surface, metal or glass surface. The glare creates temporary blindness. The polarised lenses transform this abnormal light to the normal light. The polarized sunglass lenses provide glare protection. These do not change as Photochromic lenses change in sunlight.
Polycarbonate lenses are impact resistant glasses (Unbreakable) and used for safety reasons. These lenses are a better option for safety eyeglasses, sports eyewear, and the best option for kids as well. Its refractive index is 1.58.
These are impact resistant and chemical resistant lenses on its surface. Trivex lens is better than Polycarbonate and its refractive index is 1.53.

It depends on your lifestyle, profession, and prescription type. If you spend most of your day indoor by reading and using the computer then you need white color blue filter coated lenses. And if the prescription is stronger then you will need high index lenses to get thinner lenses. If you spend your day in the field with natural light, you will need UV blocker Photochromic lenses that will change color according to your need. And if your prescription is stronger, you will need high index lenses for thinner lenses. If you are around 40 years, then you will need straight bifocal or progressive lenses for outdoor and white for indoor use.
Yes, it does, higher refractive index corresponds to the thinner and harder lens. So for higher prescription lenses, the material will be of a thinner lens as it gives good cosmetic effect and has less weight as compared to standard available materials. Standard Materials: CR39 plastic lens has a refractive index of 1.49 and Hard Crown Glass has 1.5. You can have a refractive index for plastic in 1.49, 1.56, 1.89, 1.61,1.67 and 1.74 and for Glass materials 1.50, 1.60 and 1.70.

The decision of selecting the material is all yours but we can also help. If you want a light frame and free of allergy then choose Titanium or Aluminium in metal frames or TR-90 in plastic frames. If you want a durable and reliable frame, choose a frame of Titanium or stainless steel in metal or TR-90. If you are sensitive to metals use only Titanium in metal, don't choose the frames of metal alloy. Choose the frames that are made of hypoallergenic material. If you want plastic frames, go for an acetate frame.
